While some historic sites are traditionally part of the landscape of Paris, other monuments have emerged more recently. This is the case of the Institute of the Arab world opened in 1987.
Partly designed by renowned architect Jean Nouvel, the building preserves many details that make its charm. Take for example the 240 geometric shapes that make up the facade. Originally, these forms were intend to open regarding the amount of light and heat from the sun. Unfortunately, the mechanism has never really worked. Nevertheless, it remains an architectural wonder facing the historical Paris.
