Super Holographic! A’Pieu Holographic Eyeshadow Review

A’Pieu is one of those Korean brands that is always around but doesn’t usually catch my interest at all.  It’s there in the background, certainly affordable but not very interesting – I suppose it is my Korean version of say, Bourjois.

Anyhow I spotted an eyeshadow range from A’Pieu and it didn’t look very interesting until I saw they had a couple of Holo Shades that reminded me of my early days of make up-ing.

These shades are: Retro Punk and Miss Match (left and right).

Retro Punk – a dirty gold with green glitter. Reminds me of a MAC shade but I can’t remember the name! Old gold? If someone knows tell me!

Miss Match – a cool taupe brown with blue glow.

The packaging is fine, sturdy and the print which is like squares laid over to look like a flower is also nice.

Let’s take a look at Retro Punk!

The pigmentation is ok. The texture again, is fine but it is rather gritty – there’s pigment there but its best to pack the colour on to the lid.  The glitter stands out more than the pigment and in the sun I couldn’t see it – however at a party a mum complemented me and said it looked amazing. In the evening when I was taking it all off I could see the green glitters really stood out and looked 3D on my lids.

What I am saying is, as a glittery Holo top coat it does look great but don’t expect it to floor you on the pigmentation of buttery scale.

Miss Match is not a glitter but a metallic holo shade. I tried to capture the colour here but its quite hard to do!

It’s a medium taupe with a pretty blue shot through it.

The texture of this is pretty terrible. I rubbed the colour as hard as I could and patted it on to my lid. Even with layering it struggled if I am honest to show up. When I tiled my head around yes it was slightly there but not that noticeable. Very disappointing as the colour is beautiful.

Here are the swatches, You NEED primer and maybe some water too to apply these! It’s a shame, the colours are gorgeous in the pan.

I do really like Retro Punk though! It would look great if you were going out.  I do want to try more shades but I don’t want to be let down! I shall let you know if I do!

Have you tried any nice Holo shades on the eyes lately?
