Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Acid Toner Review

I think that many people are aware of the importance of adding some acid to their Skin care routines thanks to Caroline Hirons (one of her articles on acids here) but sometimes it can be hard to chose the best acid to try and also to find an affordable one. I have finished up my beloved Mizon AHA/BHA toner which I really like for my sensitive skin, so I have been trying this very affordable offering from Superdrug (£5.99 for 100ml) which promises radiant skin.

This acidic toner contains AHA which is good for refining pores, and providing a brighter skin tone.

This also contains Kiwi Fruit and Vitamin C, to improve on pigmentation too.

I have been using this for 1 month and I am nearly through a whole bottle (I guess because it’s cheap I have been quite generous with it).  I use it at night only.

Firstly – I have to say I can’t stand the fragrance in this – it’s very floral and far too strong for my liking. I wish they would remove it as it’s just not pleasant.

Apart from that this toner leaves my skin feeling tingly but not uncomfortable ALTHOUGH when I first used it, I found that I had a break out near by chin and my nose peeled.  When I use CORSX AHA my skin tingles like a mo-fo – this stuff must be weaker as it doesn’t feel that tingly.

However I do think my skin reacted the way it did because it was getting used to the formula.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Glycolic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hydroxide, Betaine, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum, Allantoin, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Ethylhexylglycerin, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Saccharum Officinarum Extract, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract, Morus Nigra (Mulberrry) Leaf Extract, Nelumbium Speciosum (Lotus) Flower Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Sapindus Mukurossi Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum Extract, Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Linalool, Citronellol, Geraniol, Coumarin, Eugenol.

On the plus side, my skin did indeed look gloomy the next day – not as much as with the other toners I have used (Mizon, Pixi) but it is fine especially for the price!

Overall….I think I will keep looking for an acid toner or just repurchase my Mizon one. However in the meantime I will still use this occasionally (it seems like it’s a little too strong for me to use daily) as it does seem to clarify my skin and leave it brighter even if I do hate the smell!

You can buy it here.
