Kat Von D Make Up: Alchemist Holographic Palette Review and Swatches!

We will start the week with Kat Von D and end the week with her too (I am sort of in love with the brand at the moment). The Alchemist Palette was brought to my attention by Fashionicide – check out her blog and Instagram for her colourful, unicorn-y, always uplifting make up looks (I’ve met this girl in real life – she’s not pretending for a blog, this is her) when she told the Kat Von D Make Up Artist to wet her brush and apply the holographic powder over my cheeks.

I know. I wear some glitter sure, but I am still quite conservative when it comes to colour on my lips or indeed, the cheeks.  But let’s start at the beginning.

The Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette:

This baby was out of stock for a while and when I was alerted to it being available, I snapped it up super fast (well I sent Mr C – thanks!).

This palette contains 4 shades of holo powder with ‘360 degree refractive pearls’ – there’s a pink, purple, green and blue inspired shade which can be used on the cheeks, eye, nose, lips, anywhere you want a iridescent highlight.  It can be used on top of eyeshadow (on top of a black eyeshadow for example, the holo would really stand out) or on top of lipstick. Basically however you want.

I loved this product when it was demoed on me, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it.  Sure I like highlighter as much as anyone but I suppose they’re getting a bit boring now.  This iridescent colour I find fun and interesting and it can genuinely be used in different ways as it’s so light textured and can be layered if you wish.

Swatches:

I suppose I see this palette as a really nice one to try if you like the holo effect even if you are conservative.  It can be used as a sheer wash on the eyes for example or a bit of the pink opal highlighter which is quite wearable. On the other hand if you want to go full on with this, you can do that too – just layer it on for a bold look.

I have the purple on my eyes now and the pink opal on my cheeks.

The palette is back is stock and costs £25 from Debenhams.
