Sugarpill Trinket Liquid Lip Colour Review and Swatches!

Ok so I am a huge fan of Ru Paul’s Drag race; a reality TV competition like X-Factor but for Drag Queens.  Kim Chi was a contestant on Season 8 of Drag Race and a finalist – she happens to be Korean and I loved that there was a South East Asian queen on there and her dress making skills were incredible.  I really wanted her to win (alas, she did not).

Anyway when I saw this liquid lipstick from Sugarpill (not a brand I buy from, no particular reason other than the range doesn’t interest me usually) I knew I HAD to have it. A Matte finish rose-mauve that contains GOLD GLITTERS that is DESIGNED BY KIM CHI?!?! WHAT?

So despite reducing my make up purchases greatly this year, I had to have this. I bought it for £14.95 from Love Make Up (because their shipping is slightly less than Cocktail cosmetics who also sell this).  Can I just say Lime Crime and Sugarpill seem to spur many fakes on eBay and the like.  I don’t see the point of fakes since you don’t know what the ingredients are and the shades are never quite 100%, therefore I would buy these brands from a reputable seller only.

Onwards!

So Kimchi actually has another shade with Sugarpill called, er, Kimchi, but it is a very pale lavender purple type Colour which looks good but would look like death on me. Trinket is a pretty my lips but better mauve. Medium toned but not dead.

It is very pigmented, long lasting and creamy. Also smells like chocolate orange?! If you hate Terry’s you won’t like this but I quite like it.

Very pigmented! Once it dries the interesting part of this matte colour is the GOLD sprinkles. Oh my god. Matte with glittery. Crazy.

Regarding the formula, this dries nicely and doesn’t make the lips ugly or dry. In terms of dryness, it is the same as other similar matte lip colours like Stila.  My naturally dry lips will never find Matte Liquid Lipsticks the best thing ever, BUT the better formulas are tolerable as long as I hydrate them at night time.  This is definitely one of the better formulas.

Swatch:

Here is the colour on me. I wonder if this is limited? I might need a backup.

The glitter is more apparently once the formula is completely dry.

More importantly the gold comes out once the lip colour fades (ie. after a drink) and if you rub some of the top layer off.

I tried to capture the glitter. There is lots and lots and lots of glitter on the lips long after the colour has faded:

If you hate chocolate orange scents or gold glitter, you won’t like this.

If you like chocolate orange and gold glitter if you like mauve pretty matte liquid lipsticks that make your teeth look white, that are pigmented and last, and aren’t too drying you WILL like this. It’s actually quite hard to find a matte colour like this – I find the matteness can make the face looks dead sometimes and this shade is not, it’s very pretty on.

I will definitely explore more of Sugarpill in the future.

What do you think of this colour?
