Let us begin with the facts. Not all the members of any said Population segment or group represent the all the ideals of highlighted members of said group. That is statistically impossible. In light of the recent development with the leader of the AWB and the leader of the governing party’s youth league, we must then look at both groups and realize that not all members resemble the few individuals in the spotlight. Not all Afrikaners are racist farmers and not all black youths are militant revolutionaries.

What do we want in life? If we look at Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, we all have them, Basically. We all need to have food in our stomach, a roof over our heads, friends and family and the need to feel good about ourselves. When every person in the world basically wants the same things, why are we all arguing? The reason probably is that we think that there is not enough resources for everyone when in fact, if we apply our minds to it, we can make it work for every person in this plannet. The first step is to think it is possible. The next step is to want to make it possible. Lastly we have to actually make it possible.

Back to the title then, “Afrikaners is plesierig”. Afrikaners are generally good humoured people. Whenever people talk about other population groups in South Africa, the same can be said about them too. We are a bunch of good people in South Africa. Forget about the Soccer World Cup. Forget about all the political stirrings. We are human beings in a beautiful country. Let us share this country peacefully with the world. We know we can. Let’s do it!
