West Seattle’s new pre-professional soccer club, West Seattle Junction FC (JFC), has hired Erik Oman as their inaugural head coach, and they’ll be holding tryouts this Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, from 1 – 3 p.m.

• Oman will be leading tryouts for Junction FC this week, with over 70 talented players attending.
• Tryouts will take place at Delridge Playfields from 1–3 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 5, 2024.
• Following tryouts the group will meet at the Westy at 6 p.m.
• Tryouts will culminate in a meet and greet at the Westy in West Seattle.

Coach Erik Oman comes to this USL2 team with an impressive resume. Erik holds numerous licenses including US Soccer A license, his Premier Diploma for coaching, and a National Goalkeeper coaching license. With over 30 years of coaching, including a 15-year collegiate coaching career with University of Northern Colorado, UW, University of Montana, Colorado College, and the US Air Force Academy. He has coached numerous National team and professional players and mentored hundreds of coaches as a national coaching educator. Since returning to Seattle in 2007, Erik has been in various high level leadership roles, most recently serving as the League Technical Director for the Washington Premier League (WPL) as well as the League’s Academy program serving top players across the State.

The Junction FC name is inspired by West Seattle’s unique neighborhood junctions where friends and families come together, paths cross, and connections are made. The name celebrates the intersections where the game and fans meet and where communities are built and bonded. The club’s ownership is thrilled to meet and work with the community, the media, and local business owners.

West Seattle Junction FC, a pre-pro U-23 soccer club, is joining the USL2 league starting in May 2024. Formed by a team of soccer enthusiasts that have supported our youth soccer community for over 25 years, this venture will bring a much needed platform for our most talented young athletes to showcase their skills. The club aims to foster a strong connection to a hyper-local fanbase and create a memorable experience for fans, players, and everyone involved. JFC’s men’s team is planned for 2024, followed by the women’s team in 2025.
