Project Menorah encourages interfaith solidarity during Hanukkah

As the Jewish community prepares to celebrate Hanukkah, a grassroots movement called Project Menorah is encouraging non-Jews to place a menorah in their windows alongside their other holiday decorations in a display of interfaith solidarity.

The initiative comes as antisemitism has been on the rise in recent years. According to the Anti-Defamation League, there was a 388% increase in antisemitic incidents in the United States in 2021 compared to 2017.

Project Menorah aims to counter this trend by creating a visible symbol of support for the Jewish community.

“Less than two percent of Americans are Jewish, so this small act can help empower the Jewish community against antisemitic hate,” the organization said on its website.

To participate in Project Menorah, purchase or borrow a menorah, or download a graphic of one here, and place it in your window during Hanukkah, which begins on Dec. 7 this year. Then, share a picture of your menorah on social media using the hashtags #onlyloveliveshere, #projectmenorah, and @projectmenorah.

In addition to encouraging non-Jews to display menorahs, Project Menorah also provides resources for those who wish to learn more about Hanukkah and the Jewish community.
