If you noticed an increased police presence in downtown Burien on Friday, Mar. 22, 2024, it’s because a monthly anomaly in Burien Police/King County Sheriff’s Office schedules allows for extra staff 2 to 3 days per month, and officers were using this time for training and extra patrols, as well as focused police work.
“Friday, Mar. 22, 2024 was one of these days and we used the time to focus on illegal drug use in the downtown core,” Police Chief Ted Boe said. “The result was nine arrests for drug use and four additional arrests for warrants.”
Boe added that this work “is in addition to our regular resources working to address illegal behavior every day throughout all of Burien.”
