The City of Burien’s Parks & Recreation Department celebrated Arbor Day on Saturday, April 22, with the Environmental Science Center staff, Burien Lions members and many community volunteers.
Councilmember Austin Bell joined in to read the Arbor Day proclamation and help plant two vine maple trees.
Linden Lampman, Urban Forestry Program Manager for WA State Department of Natural Resources arrived from Olympia to present Burien with a new Tree City flag and acknowledge the city’s 16th year as a Tree City USA member.
The rain arrived just as the day was finishing up and helped water the new trees.
