Security cover to 10 BJP leaders announced in Bihar

Patna: As the state is witnessing massive violent protests, Security Cover has been announced for the ten BJP leaders. The angry mobs have not only set trains and other public properties on fire, but also damaged houses of several BJP leaders. This has prompted the authorities to give security cover to ruling party's leaders. 

Officials say that "the process of giving protection to these leaders has been initiated." As per the announcement, Gopal Jee Thakur, MP Darbhanga, Sanjay Jaiswal, MP Betiah, Deputy CM Renu Devi and 7 other MLAs and MLCs have been provided with the security cover.

The nationwide protests against the central government's 'Agnipath Yojana' military recruitment scheme continued in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The protesters mainly consist of youth protesting against the government's four-year plan.

In Bihar's Samastipur and Lakhisarai districts, mobs set several coaches of the Jammu Tawi Express train on fire at the Mohiuddinnagar station on the Hajipur-Barauni railway line. Muzaffarpur district also witnessed violent protests.

Protesters set fire to the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express train in Samastipur. Students protesting against the 'Agnipath Yojana' also set fire to a train in Lakhisarai, Bihar. The protesting youth blocked the railway track at Behea and set several coaches of the Vikramshila Express on fire. Protesting youth indulged in arson at at the Dumrao railway station in Buxar district. They burnt tyres on the railway track. 

The authorities concerned are taking every measure to contain the ongoing protests. As a result of this, the Internet services have been suspended in 18 districts of the state as the police try to quell public anger on social media. Earlier today, protesters clashed with police and set several vehicles on fire as they tried to implement a bandh called against the recruitment scheme. So far, at least 325 people reported to have been arrested. As per the media reports, nearly 60 FIRs have been registered in connection with these protests.
