Wealth management firm to Parliament! AAP's Raghav Chadha takes oath as Rajya Sabha MP

Chadha came into limelight as the youngest national spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party. For a long time, his mission has been to empower the youth of India and bring them forward in politics.

New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha on Saturay took oath as a Rajya Sabha MP in the Parliament. Chadha has been instrumental in designing and implementing campaigns, empowering the party's organisation at large in several states, especially New Delhi and Punjab.

Chadha came into limelight as the youngest national spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party. For a long time, his mission has been to empower the youth of India and bring them forward in politics.

Raghav Chadha studied at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi. He did his graduation in commerce (B.Com) from Delhi University and then completed Chartered Accountancy in his first attempt. He has worked with notable brands like Grant Thornton, Deloitte, Shyam Malpani and continues to practice as a Chartered Accountant. Raghav Chadha then joined the London School of Economics (LSE) and established a boutique wealth management firm there.

This was the period when the Anna movement was at its peak. As the movement was towards its final stage. That's why CM Arvind Kejriwal had not yet taken any decision about whether to form a political party or not. During that time Raghav Chadha met CM Kejriwal. He was then assigned the task of drafting the Delhi Lokpal Bill in 2012.

At the beginning of his political journey, he contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but finished second. The candidate who got the most votes among all the AAP candidates in the Lok Sabha elections in New Delhi. After this contested from Rajendra Nagar area in Delhi Assembly Elections 2020 and won against BJP candidate RP Singh by a margin of 20,058 votes. 

After the Assembly elections, he was awarded the additional charge of Deputy Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and entrusted with the task of providing clean water to Delhiites. He announced that the major priorities of Delhi Jal Board are 24x7 clean piped water supply to all households and cleaning of Yamuna. Chadha also started a 24×7 helpline in Rajendra Nagar Vidhan Sabha to directly connect with him. It has turned into a 'lifeline' for the residents of the area during the lockdown, solving hundreds of problems.

Under the charismatic leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal, youth icon Raghav Chadha has worked to advance the ideals of clean politics and volunteerism. This is the reason that in a very short time he has emerged as a role model for the youth in the country. Raghav Chadha was appointed as the party's co-in-charge for the Punjab unit ahead of the assembly elections in the state in 2022. It was a difficult political task as Punjab was passing through challenging times. With efforts to ensure education and prosperity for the masses, he took the responsibility of transforming Punjab. He was successful in making Punjab Rangla and Sunehra. To break the fortress of traditional parties from polite-honest politics was a huge task. 

Following in the footsteps of CM Arvind Kejriwal, Raghav Chadha stepped forward to meet the challenge. He led the party to an unprecedented victory in 92 seats out of the 117 assembly.

People lovingly call him the face of the changing politics of India. His rise in the party and political arena is a testimony to that change. Soon after the victory of Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party sent a blue-eyed boy to represent the state of Punjab in the Rajya Sabha.
