She took her last breath in Kolamba on Sunday, 4 April. Shashikala Javalkar has acted in nearly 100 films and was a big name in the 70s.

Shashikala was born on 4 August 1932 in Solapur. Her father was a very big businessman but his business was stalled at a time. The actress was fond of dancing and singing since childhood. After her father's business came to a standstill, she came to Mumbai looking for work and met Noor Jahan.
Shashikala's first film was Zeenat, which was made by Noor Jahan's husband Shaukat Rizvi. She also worked in Teen Batti Char Rasta, Humjoli, Sargam, Chori Chori, Neelkamal, Anupama. Along with films, Shashikala also worked on TV. She was seen in the role of a young girl frooti's grandmother in the famous serial Son Pari. In the year 2007, she was awarded the Padma Shri award by the Government of India.
