New Delhi:

NDTF, a right wing teachers organization will field sitting EC member, Dr V S Negi as it's  candidate in the prestigious DU Elections to be held on February

12

next year.

After DU VC Y K Tyagi being suspended by Visitor of DU on non performance and start of promotion process inthe university where thousands of pending promotion cases have been cleared in past three months, the spirit of NDTF is high, said NDTF President, Dr A K Bhagi.

He and Dr Negi claims that the committed and result oriented NDTF panel for the forthcoming Executive Council and Academic Council elections is in a position to deliver on the long pending issues including regularisation of working Adhoc Teachers which were mostly jeopardized by suspended VC.

Dr Virender S. Negi teaches Geography in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College. He has a wide experience as an elected sitting teacher representative on EC of Delhi. Earlier he was on AC/DUTA Executive.

He is also the general secretary of the NDTF. He played an important role in incorporating many pro-teacher positive features in the UGC regulations, 2018 and the currently expediting the promotion process in DU. He is widely considered as an honest and result oriented activist well versed with university functioning and rules.

Dr Bhagi assures  teachers NDTF shall do its best to reverse the action paralysis into which suspended Vice Chancellor pushed the university in the next few months. The process of promotions at all levels shall be completed and a well-planned road map for the regularisation of existing Adhoc Teachers shall begin in Colleges observing constitutional provisions of reservation roster in a legally tenable manner.

The NDTF also declared a well experienced panel for Academic Council, the body to decide on all academic related maters. This body is going to be vital in view of implementation of new National Educational Policy.

The NDTF president said that they are vigilant that whereas the benefits of NEP are extended to students without delay but at the same time they will ensure that full financial funding to DU and it's colleges continue and there is no negative impact on the service conditions of teachers. The governance of University and Colleges should be in the hands of teachers and people from academics and research than in hands of politicians or babus.

The academic autonomy of university needs to be strengthened further with full assured government funding so that public institutions can serve better to all sections of society including deprived sections equally. NDTF will also launch protracted struggle for funding of 12 Delhi Government funded colleges. It demands DU and UGC to take over these institutions as AAP government has failed to fund these institutions fully.

The list of NDTF candidates for the Academic Council include:

Shambhu Nath Dubey, Department of Political Science, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College

Sunil Kumar, Department of Political Science, Dyal Singh College

Sudarshan Kumar, Department of Chemistry, Hindu College

Naina Hasija, Department of Commerce, Kalindi College

Ashok Kumar Yadav, Department of Commerce, Shyam Lal Evening College

Anil Sharma, Department of Hindi, Zakir Hussain Evening College

Narender Bishnoi, Faculty of Law
