Deepika Padukone's birthday; here's how the Chhapaak actress will celebrate her special day

Deepika Padukone will turn a year older on January 4. Deepika, who is busy in the promotions of Meghna Gulzar directorial Chhapaak has a special plan for her birthday. Deepika has planned to do something unique for her birthday this year. Speaking at a press conference recently, Deepika revealed that she will be spending her birthday with acid attack survivors in Lucknow. 

In Chhapaak, Deepika will play the role of an acid attack survivor Malti. The movie, which is inspired by the real-life battle of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, will hit the theatres on Jan 10. Deepika Padukone, who is also producing the film, is leaving no stone unturned to promote it.

On the occasion of Deepika's birthday, the cast of the film, along with director Meghna Gulzar, will visit a cafe in Lucknow tomorrow. What makes this cafe unique is the fact that it is run by acid attack survivors and Deepika is more than enthralled to ring in her special day with real-life warriors.

Deepika, who has expressed her constant battle with depression during the shoot of Chhapaak, in an interview earlier said, “I hope we won't have to constantly tell stories on acid-attack survivors for us to see change. I hope with our film we begin to see that change for ourselves as a society and for acid-attack survivors. If we don't, then we've done something wrong as a society. Cinema in itself is such a powerful medium that hopefully just through this one film we will hopefully be able to see that kind of change and impact.”  

Chhapaak has been gaining a lot of appreciation ever since the release of its trailer. The movie will see Deepika's return on the silver screen after two years. 

With an intense representation of facts, beautiful impersonation of the characters and an inspiring story, Chhapaak highlights the need to save women from this agony.
