Taylor Swift’s father will not face charges after Neutral Bay altercation.

By ANNA USHER

Pop superstar Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift, will face no charges following a police investigation into an alleged assault of a paparazzo at Neutral Bay wharf last month.
“Officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command have conducted an investigation following a report of an assault at Neutral Bay Wharf,” a police spokesperson said on Wednesday. “No further police action [will be taken].”

Ben McDonald, chief executive of Matrix Media Group, made a complaint to local police on February 27, after claiming he was assaulted by the 71-year-old Taylor at 2:30am, after the entourage disembarked a luxury vessel.

The paparazzo said he had been trying to get photographs of the superstar when her security guards allegedly pushed him with their umbrellas.

“Then her dad decided to add to the mix and throw a punch in,” McDonald, 51, alleged at the time.

No medical treatment was needed for either man.

In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Mr McDonald said he had been out “chasing Taylor” when the alleged altercation on Hayes St, Neutral Bay, occurred.

“She got off a super-yacht at Neutral Bay and walked up the wharf with an umbrella over her head and a couple of security [guards] around her. Security sort of pushed us around with the umbrellas,” he said.

“Then her dad decided to add to the mix and throw a punch in,” he alleged.

In response, a spokesperson for Swift alleged that “two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water”.

The pop icon’s father, often affectionately referred to as “Papa Swift” by fans, was a permanent fixture at each of his daughter’s Australian Eras Tour shows.

Swift’s father was permitted to leave Australia near the end of February while NSW police continued the investigation.
