After more than 30 years on Military Rd, Moulton Galleries will close its doors for the last time this Sunday.

Specialising in Australian fine art, hand blown glass, jewellery and giftware, the popular store has been located at 777 Military Rd since 1989.

Moulton Galleries is having a 50% off sale to say “thank you” for the local support over 30 years.

Owner Marcia Moulton is celebrating her farewell from Mosman village with a 50% off sale, telling Mosman Collective “all stock must go”.

“People who know and love the shop will be familiar with our treasure trove of high-quality stock,” Ms Moulton said, “we are one of the longest running businesses in Mosman and there’s been a lot of tissues handed out to customers this week.”

Marcia said customers have flooded the popular store this week to grab discounted art works and giftware.

Ms Moulton has owned the building since 1994, and said she is leasing it out to an existing local retailer, who intends to move out of current premises next month.

“I will retain the flat upstairs to use as a base, and my business will be moved online,” she said.

Residents keen to snag a bargain have flocked to the store this week, stocking up on gifts and art, with jewellery proving a strong seller.

“All our gold jewellery went in a flash, but I still have some beautiful silver pieces at 50% off,” Ms Moulton said.

“We also have gorgeous prints from Van Gogh and Renoir for as little as $10.”

Locals are invited to grab a bargain before Sunday 24 March.

Among original works, astute buyers can purchase remaining Normal Lindsay etchings for just $400, landscapes from Reg Rowe reduced to just $1000, and Wendy Wooden florals discounted by 20%.

“I also have five paintings by Richard Bogusz that are 50% off, and some by Ernesto Arrisueno,” Ms Moulton said.

“My parting gift to the people of Mosman is the opportunity to buy some incredible works from very well-known artists.

“My customers have been so wonderful to me over the years, and offering big discounts is a way of showing my thanks.”

Pashminas, jewellery, cards, posters and original art are all on sale.

Ms Moulton said she intends to spend more time at her family property, to enjoy a quiet retirement and catch up on “years of sleep.”

“Running a business like Moulton Galleries has been incredibly rewarding, but very time intense,” she said.

“Now the time feels right to move the business online, while being able to still retain my shop.

“I’m so fond of the wonderful location, right next door to Matt Bisaro the Floral Craftsman, and have no intention of selling the building.”
