LIMA, Peru.- Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero will be able to play for his team in Russia 2018 after the Swiss Federal Court decided to temporarily suspend the doping penalty against the player, which will begin to be fulfilled after the World Cup.

On December 20, the FIFA Appeals Commission partially upheld Paolo Guerrero's appeal against the one-year sanction, imposed the Disciplinary Committee after testing positive for doping control in October, and lowered the period of time in six months. Later, the WADA resorted to the TAS and these decided to raise again the punishment to the athlete to 14 months of sanction.
Now, after several months of anguish and legal proceedings, the Peruvian captain will see his dream of playing for his country in a World Cup and Peruvians breathe knowing that they will have their captain and best player in the maximum event of football.
