Thousands of people without electricity in Central Maryland amid dangerous heat, storms

As a Dangerous Heat Wave and severe storms hit Central Maryland, thousands of people were left without electricity on Thursday. Baltimore Sun said more than 15,000 customers were without power in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Downed trees and power lines caused the outages due to strong winds and heavy rain.

The power outages come amid a dangerous heat wave, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s and heat index values up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Central Maryland, urging residents to take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The severe weather is expected to continue throughout the day, with the possibility of more power outages. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until the weather conditions improve.
