The power outages come amid a dangerous heat wave, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s and heat index values up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Central Maryland, urging residents to take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) has deployed crews to restore power, but some customers may be without electricity for several hours. BGE has advised customers to stay away from downed power lines and immediately report any outages or downed lines.
