I wrote my first ever blog entry in 2002 at mblog. Geez, I can’t even remember now neither my blog title (if I had one) nor the content of my first post…hehehe! Not long after I started to get the hang of it, an announcement was made that fees will soon be collected for its maintenance. It’s either you pay up or say goodbye to your blog. Looking back, the only good thing about it was I only did a few posts there…hahaha!
At that time there were several free bloghosts available. Moving on to another site wasn’t such a problem. Blogger was one of the possible options though featurewise, Modblog has more to offer. Hence, I decided to sign-up in the latter.
That’s where I created the original My Fortress of Solitude with a banner logo that looked exactly like the one I have here. It was also the only one that I was able to back-up…the rest of my blog entries vanished in cyberspace when Modblog disappeared somewhere between 2005 and 2006. I was in total disbelief!
Up until now, I still type my Modblog address each time I go online hoping against hope that it will be reloaded on the web.I want to retrieve back its contents. It’s such a shame to think that all my blog entries there just vanished without a trace…
I tried out several free bloghosts - all at the same time. However, I wasn’t that into it as I used to before…can’t get over my traumatic Modblog experience, huh? It was not until the last quarter of 2006 when my fingers retraced its way back to Blogger again.
This time I intend to say here for good. With Blogger, I can leave my site for several months…even for a couple of years and it will still be here. That’s how reliable Blogger has been. My blog entries will be definitely safe here. My only appeal to Blogger is to keep it free…PLEASE???
