Better Nutrition less Stress

When driving into Portland, via I-205, you can see the many tents upon tents lining the side of the freeway. Clothes hanging from dry lines show the gender and age range of everyone within that tent. There are no stoves or refrigerators to be seen, so how do parents, with children, get Food and vital nutrients needed for each member of the family?

There are soup-kitchens and shelters available within most cities but when budgets are tight foods high in fiber and nutrients are often provided less often. Food’s high in protein are generally a more inexpensive way to feed more families throughout the day. However, children need adequate Nutrition for growth and adults need important vitamins to prevent health problems in their future.

Being homeless is stressful, especially when you are constantly trying to figure out where your next meal will come from. Better nutrition that includes more fruits and vegetables high in necessary vitamins can help to alleviate stress.

So, when donating to an organization that helps to feed our homeless, consider foods rich in nutrients, high fiber or even packaged vitamins.

No one wants to be homeless or unable to provide a meal for their child. Let’s help to find ways to support those in need within our community.
