A Rant

Bryan Cranston did a superb job (as usual) playing LBJ during his first year trying to get the Civil Rights Act passed in the HBO docudrama All The Way. Watching last night, I couldn’t help thinking tho much has changed, sadly, much remains the same. My fellow citizens and their representatives in DC are still moved by fears and prejudices. It’s not Black Americans, now it’s LBGTQ Americans (tho poor Blacks still get more than their fair share of Fear and prejudice).

Now the justification’s not states rights, tho that’s alive and well, it’s religious freedom. God did not say, love thy neighbor as thy self. No, she said, and it’s there in the Bible, just as Muslims of a similar persuasion find justification for holy war in the Koran, shun, punish and convert those who do not believe as you believe, who are different.

Haven’t Transgendered people been around for ever? Think about it. What bathrooms do you suppose they’ve been using all this time? How many young girls have been molested in the Bathroom by transgendered girls and women in all that time? Why is this bathroom thing an issue now? Think about it, who’s stirring up the fear? Why?

But hey, soon we’ll have that big super Wall along the Mexican border and all our economic problems will be solved. But wait, Christmas is coming, who will stop the war on Christmas? Why, the wall builders and the separate bathroom builders of course, that’s who. Say, could all this be a conspiracy by the construction industry to create profits and jobs…?
