What’s that supposed to mean? Is it a dog whistle? Whistling us to what? ‘Again.’ Obviously back, a return to some other time and place. Perhaps a time and places where blacks couldn’t vote, get good jobs and were lynched? Or being gay was against the law? Or where there were quotas for Jews in college? Or where the ‘cold war’ and the constant threat of nuclear armageddon were real? Or when Coal was king and along with DDT was poisoning the atmosphere and us?

The coal jobs are never coming back! Face it. Neither are the old style manufacturing jobs. These are world-wide economic realities led by technology. No President or Political Party can change this. But a political party could help alleviate the stress. Could support impacted families, instead of lying to them and playing to their fears and dog-whistling them backwards to an irretrievable past.
