Delhi Government issues fresh instructions on EWS admissions to private schools

The Delhi Government has issued fresh instructions to School managements of private

schools and directed them to strictly comply with it.

The schools were told to submit the data of all the admissions made under the EWS

category and it was revealed that some of the private unaided recognised schools were not

giving admissions to the extent of 20 per cent ( as mandated ) to the Economically Weaker

Section (EWS) children.

The new notification states:

 That the schools must maintain proper records and registers including student

admission and withdrawal register, student attendance etc. For students admitted

under EWS/DG category no tuition fees can be charged and if not so then the school

is supposed to refund the same immediately under proper intimation to the

Directorate of Education (DOE).

 The schools are required to provide free books, school uniforms and writing material

to each and every student admitted under EWS/DG category. Income certificate

issued by the competent authority declaring the total annual family income less than

Rs. 1 Lakh is valid document for admission whether in the name of mother or father

of the child.

Around 300 schools were identified as defaulters for not sharing the status of

admissions. The admission process which started from January 1 was scheduled to end

up by March 31. But the process is still continuing.
