We don’t normally write about rentals, but we couldn’t pass on something this high-profile. The New York Post’s fine celebrity real estate columnist Braden Keil this morning broke the story of the pending listing of the fourth-floor unit at 421 Broome Street in SoHo. Ledger had leased the unit beginning last September for $22,000 a month. As plenty of media reports have noted this week, Ledger died of a drug overdose in the unit.
Although it’s been just over two weeks since Ledger’s death, Keil’s broker sources told him that in a hot rental market — with a vacancy rate below 1 percent — it doesn’t make sense for the unit to stay unrented. “People will rent that place in a heartbeat,” one broker told Keil.
Features in the three-bedroom unit include two and a half baths, an office, a laundry room, a gourmet kitchen, a small balcony, 15-foot tin ceilings, cast iron columns, exposed brick walls and a wood-burning fireplace, Keil reported.
