Starting my own business.

Would you believe I only just started my Virtual Assistant business last month? Yes, it's true! I started during the first week of June, 2005. It's been amazing to me how quickly things move on the Net.

I researched the VA business for about one week and then set up a website centered around my résumé and my services. (www.thethurstons.net) I can't believe it's only July 12th and I have 4 clients!!

The first thing I did (after creating my website) was to join the organization called, "International Virtual Assistants Association." (www.ivaa.org) I was very skeptical at first and thought I had just threw away money I didn't have. Luckily for me, IVAA has been a great place to network.

I have volunteered to help out on one of their committees and I regularly respond to the Request for Proposals (RFP). I also participated in my first online chat meeting today. It was great because I got some ideas from the other VAs about subcontracting and referral fees. I guess it's like any networking organization - you only get out of it what you put in.

I will try my best to write a little bit about becoming a VA in this blog each day. (Although, I can tell you now that I see myself becoming very, very busy very, very soon!) Be that as it may, I will do my best to upload a photo, or blog a news article, or make a comment on something I learned each day.

Until then check out my website! www.thethurstons.net
