Nurses Week Celebration: Georgann Carrubba

To celebrate Nurses Week we are profiling extraordinary nurses who travel with Trinity.  We asked each of them to tell us a little bit about themselves and their travel careers.

Georgann Carrubba is a travel RN who specializes in MedSurg and Corrections. While Georgann is a dedicated nurse, she is also an inventor of a medical device. Her journey began when she shared the prototype for The Choice Cap system, a prosthetic appliance for colostomy and ileostomy patients, to her former nursing school professor.

Two years after presenting the prototype to her professor, Georgann won the $25,000 grand prize for her invention at the Rochester Venture Challenge in April. The Choice Cap is still in the final design stages, but once perfected, it will have the ability to improve the quality of life for the 800,000 Americans who use ostomy pouches after life-saving surgeries. Georgann, a true advocate for patients, is determined to see it through to completion.

We are so proud of Georgann for her contribution to the medical community and her genuine care and concern for patients across the nation. Georgann loves traveling with Trinity as it gives her the flexibility to work on her invention and company.

Her recruiter Marty Rastelli tells us, “Georgann is excellent to work with. She amazes me by representing Trinity so well while running her company. Georgann aligns well with Trinity in doing what she says and saying what she does. She is a true pleasure to work with.”

Get to know Georgann:

Where are you currently on assignment? I am presently working at Auburn Correctional Facility, in Auburn, New York

What was your favorite Trinity assignment and why? This was my first assignment with Trinity and my recruiter Marty Rastelli, took the extra time to place me in the PERFECT job. I love Auburn, the people who I work with and the relationships I have formed with so many there.

What is the most memorable place you have traveled (for work or fun)? Florida, to spend time with my family who have lived there for over 25 years!

Do you have pets, family or friends you regularly travel with? My 25 year old daughter Chelsea is back in college, but she will be joining me, and our pets Missy, Shebah, Gunner and Maddie, on assignment in Florida in June.

If you weren’t a travel nurse, what would you be doing instead? I will be running my own company, Tencar Inc. full time by winter and will most likely be retiring from my 32 year nursing career.

What is your secret indulgence or favorite treat? Pizza.

Reason or reasons you travel with Trinity? Marty came very highly recommended from a traveling nurse from another company, He contacted me and was amazing. I have worked for other agencies over the past 30 years and by far Trinity's pay, benefits and job placement exceeds all others.
