Why Our Pets Make Travel Nursing More Exciting and Fun

Are you considering a travel nursing adventure, but don’t want to leave your furry friend behind? We’ve got great news: Traveling with pets is possible. At Trinity, we understand that pets are part of the family and that they mean the world to their owners. Our staff loves pets so much that they’re even welcome in the Trinity office!

Here are a few pointers as you think about including your furry friend on your next assignment.

Constant Companionship

When moving from location to location, it can be tough settling into an assignment right away. A four-legged friend provides constant companionship and offers a remedy for feelings of loneliness or homesickness. The majority of Trinity’s pet-owning travelers travel with dogs, but cats and other animals have been known to join Team Trinity too! Our pet owners say that their pets encourage them to go outside for fresh air and exercise, remind them that there’s always time for fun, and are simply there for them after work. We all know, there’s nothing quite like coming home to a familiar face, especially after a long day (or night) of work. Plus, your pet’s excitement upon seeing you is guaranteed to make any homecoming that much sweeter.

Get Your Housing Right

No, your recruiter won’t pet sit for you, but he or she can help you find pet-friendly housing options on your assignment. While there may be pet deposits, pet rent, or pet fees, our team of experts will help take care of the details, providing your pet is well behaved and doesn’t cause any property damage. If you’ve decided to try and find housing on your own, ask your recruiter for recommendations on which cities are more pet-friendly regarding housing.

Other Things To Consider When Traveling With Pets

There are two main things to consider when traveling with your pet: Transportation and care. Most pets will fit if you’re driving to your next assignment, and the good news is, they’ll travel for free in your vehicle. However, if you have to fly to your next assignment, having pets in the cabin can cost approximately $100 per pet depending on the airline, and storing pets in the cargo will cost you roughly $250.

It’s also important to make sure you’ll be able to take good care of your pet while they’re living with you. Will you be able to take care of your furry family member with your work schedule? Part of being a loving pet owner is also taking responsibility for your pet’s best interests. There are plenty of places to find boarding or pet sitters to help out and make your assignment less stressful.

We’ve heard from our travelers that including their pets on assignment can be one of the most rewarding experiences. From couch snuggles to exploring their new city together during a walk, pets can make the travel nurse lifestyle that much more enriching. Are you ready to travel with your pet? Don’t forget to ask your recruiter about options for you and your four-legged family members!
