Convert your Hobby into part time work assignment - III

Transfer ur  skills / interest / hobbies into part time jobs/ work - third installment.....

This is the third section of our discussion of using your hobbies / skills to good use for some side money doing part time work or project based jobs. The scope of being employed this way is great as this is independent of whether you currently have a job or are not working.

Although, one must realize that the plans recommended below may look very promising, the implementation may require you updating your business skills by taking classes online or onsite to get the true potential returns. One must also consider the fact that this ventures mean trading your personal time but always keep an eye on the rewards you will claim for the investment of time.

Staying employed by making Wooden furniture and toys...

Abacus, Dolls' houses, Small puzzle blocks and many more appeal to parents and grandparents who are looking for an out of the ordinary present for a little kids in the family, as well as adult collectors.

If you are good at woodwork and can work around the same, you could also consider making other wooden toysIf you can make to a high standard, wooden toys can command premium prices at the top end of the Market. Although, as mentioned above Trading is different Business aspect and will require some real world knowledge which can be learnt by taking additional classes or self study.

Dolls' houses vary from the simple two-up, two-down house to electrically lit minature palaces that need a whole room to themselves. These can be assembled from kits, or from scratch for the more skilled amateur carpenter and hobbyist. Additionally there is a large market for dolls' house furniture and accessories, ranging from tables and chairs to miniature plates, pots and pans. Try selling at local markets and toy fairs.

Though this work / job will need a workshop/storage area and a car or van to transfer and move stuff around.

If you have additional spare time and are good with wood, you may also upgrade to furniture making. Initially you may have to struggle but with quality work and word of mouth this could end being a great assignment as you can then offer your service to tailor make furniture for people who can afford the luxury.

Working as a Florist

Florist business has taken a big jump with online services which offer flowers at a great price. You have an option to become a part of their team and deliver their customer orders as a side business / work.

Also another option would be to start something of your own.  Not all florists work full-time from a shop. If you have the necessary artistic flair and skills, you can make and supply table arrangements, bridal bouquets and wreaths, decorate weddings and other celebrations and offer a service to local businesses supplying flower arrangements for their premises. Advertise locally using classifieds, leaflets and word-of-mouth.

Most cities would have a option to buy flowers wholesale and you could buy wholesale and sell cut flowers, arrangements, small pots etc at local farmers market. Depending on where you live, you may have access to the same all through the year of partly during summer as in most northern US states.

Any business has to be conducted with the local laws which may call for insurance and other statutory requirements. If the business prospects improve, there are many venture companies who could provide loans or outright invest as your trading partner. The key is how the business is conducted and the market credit and reputation you have earned in the same.

We will continue with some more ideas in the coming blogs...
