Talent hunt : 2020, 3 predictions

The last few years have seen large scale adoption of Technology in the recruitment process. No longer is filling positions seen as a painful task. With Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn becoming a part of daily life, engagement has become an important prerequisite for talent hunt. The companies that are active in the social sphere are seeing greater access to passive talent.

Prediction 1: Engagement is king

This prediction is somewhat predictable. Companies will find it difficult to get quality talent by just posting jobs in job boards. With Social media, companies have to engage with talent, get them interested in the company culture and then get them interested in the job. This change is already happening. It can be noticed that companies like AMEX are getting access to talented candidates by posting ads on Facebook, LinkedIn etc. Engagement on twitter is also noticeable.

The day is not far when companies go one step further and do bulk of their hiring from social media.

Prediction 2 : Hunt talent online

Though Technology has penetrated into the hiring process, the steps from sourcing to giving offer letter is highly delayered. The day is not far when each and every step of the hiring happens online. Companies may not even need to meet candidates before they join.

Extending this a little, candidates may also work remotely. For example a company in Singapore can hire someone in Africa, give him/her a job and make him/her work remotely. This is a logical extension to outsourcing as seen today.

Prediction 3: Kids get jobs

The role of colleges in providing skills to kids is already on a downward spiral. Most companies have to train candidates for 3-12months before putting them on jobs.
Things are bound to change. Companies will identify talent very early. May be in the end of first year of college itself; Kids will get trained in the skills required and by the time they come out they would be Engineers ready to work!

We at HuntShire believe that engagement is the future of recruitment and are building something that is going to be an important part in the recruitment process of a company.
