Hiring demand for registered nurses in United States

Direct Staffing services in the Health Care sector comprises of providing health care personnel for public and private hospitals and clinics. Typical positions in this sector include doctors, nurses, administrators, technicians and assistants. As per the industry sources, top seventeen US health care staffing agencies had generated revenues worth $4.1 billion in 2011. There are also related or combined staffing services provided by these staffing agencies or companies that include pre-employment screening, performing background checks and interviewing the candidates. The staffing firms covered under this industry just act as intermediaries and the hired individuals are not the employees of these staffing firms.
According to the Career Builder’s 2013 Hiring Forecast, Health Care Sector remains one of the toughest sectors to recruit talent by direct staffing agencies. It is considered as one of the hottest areas for hiring in the United States. The number of health care hiring managers planning to add full time employees increased from 19% in 2012 to 22% in 2013. The confidence in job security continues to raise that increased to two percentage points from 79% during first quarter of 2013 to 81% from second quarter of 2013. As in case of real estate sector, one of the most important factors in health care staffing is location.
There is now a growing Demand for Registered Nurses and the most advertised job title in United States remains the requirement of Registered Nurses or RN’s. Staffing analysts opine that a major component of the increase in the demand for Registered Nurses is due to the lack of qualified RN’s in the locations where there are needed the most while in other areas there are more than enough RN’s or Registered Nurses in meeting the demands. There is also RN demand due to influx of industry because of population growth in areas where oil shale extraction is booming.
In October-2013, there are more than 350,000 jobs available for Nurses, which is a 15% year-over-year increase. Despite the growing demand of RN’s, the difficulty in filling these jobs has not been much impacted. Seattle saw the greatest growth among the ten cities in United States with 64% more RN jobs during October-2013 than previous year. An estimated 2.6 million Registered Nurses in the United States are filling up the nationwide demand with some locations with smaller than average talent pool leading to more difficulty in recruiting.
