Despite entering into another recession, the UK employment Outlook looks positive, according to a survey conducted by Manpower of 2,100 employers. The survey sought to understand whether employers would hire additional workers or reduce the size of their workforce in this economic quarter. Companies are still looking to hire albeit at a slower pace, in particular the Business and Finance sector has seen +13% net employment outlook for the quarter. The South of England and London are firmly in a positive situation with Employer confidence in stark contrast with the North with a score of -6%. This summer will also see a flood of new entrants from school leavers and graduates with employers boosting their graduate schemes and apprenticeship offerings. So with such a positive outlook from employers, why are job seekers still feeling a lack of confidence in finding work? According to a survey on the Goldteam Linkedin Group, 55% of job seekers are not confident that they can find work in the current economic climate. Although there is some positivity to take from employers continuing to take on staff, the fact still remains that unemployment figures will rise for the summer, especially with the influx of young people leaving education.
