Mosaic World of Work Visit with Beechwood School

On Wednesday 12th June Goldteam hosted a World of Work Visit for over twenty students from Beechwood School, a local school in Slough. The visit was facilitated by the Mosaic initiative, a voluntary organization that was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007. Naveed Ahmed CEO of Goldteam currently stands as Chairman of the local delivery group for Mosaic and was thrilled to introduce local students to the world of work in action in our Slough based offices. “It is vital to encourage and introduce the next generation to the world of work by giving them the knowledge and tools necessary to succeed. As Chairman of the local delivery group for Mosaic, I felt it important to share our knowledge with the next generation of workers and enable them to go into the working environment with a greater awareness and understanding of how the business world operates. Beechwood School is not only local to our community, but also to our business with some of our colleagues having studied there themselves.” Naveed Ahmed The students who attended showed a great interest in the sessions held and actively partook in discussions. Sehar Bhatti, currently studying in Beechwood School was grateful for the opportunity and felt the visit was helpful to her personal journey into the world of work. “Overall, I enjoyed the experience a lot and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to participate in this session.  I used to always think to myself how to apply for a job and what we need to prepare for.  Through this session, I have learnt tips about what you need to write on a CV and how you need to present yourself in an interview.  It has really helped me. Thank you staff at Goldteam”  Sehar Bhatti. George Wallace, another student felt that the visit gave him an increase in confidence, something that is much needed when entering the working environment as well as provided him with excellent tips on how to make a good first impression.  “I found the visit very beneficial for my confidence in interviews and in many other ways, e.g. how to present myself well to give a good first impression” Georgia Young enjoyed the sessions on interview technique and left feeling better equipped to handle an interview situation. “I learnt the do’s and don’ts of how to handle an interview and not to crack under pressure” The visit was an overall success with each student having left the session with new knowledge and understanding of the World of Work under their belt. Shezad Ali, one of the students in attendance summarized the visit by saying: “This visit gave me a good insight into how a workplace operates”
