Honda Civic Diesel in India 2012 - Amicars

The latest edition of Honda Civic, officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011, has already become a grand success. This edition has close resemblance with its predecessor model that was introduced in 2006, although technical capabilities and technology integration varies substantially between these two generations.

As per Honda officials, this edition's design will present Civic in a revived smart form. Commenting at the international automotive event, Mitsuru Kariya, Civic Development Leader quoted, “Defining the correct proportions was the most important challenge for the design of the new Civic. We enhanced the sporty aspect of the design while creating a clean, dynamic shape.”

The upcoming Honda Civic Diesel will be assembled with new age 2.2L i-DTEC engine, ascribed as clean engine by Honda. This high capacity engine is almost similar to the one being used in Accord. This engine has capacity to deliver power output of 138 hp and peak torque of 338 Nm. 2.2 litres engine also makes car more bulky than its rivals that are assembled with 1.9 or 2.0 litre diesel engines.

The diesel version of the model will also introduce Honda's Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) capabilities. A six-speed manual transmission is standard in the new generation model, but there is an option with the buyers to avail automatic transmission version.

Performance of Honda Civic Diesel

In context of the performance, acceleration and fuel efficiency, Honda Civic Diesel has moved miles ahead its previous generation. Stop fuel-saving technology (for manual transmission mechanism) and ECON capability for better fuel consumption will boost the on-road performance of this model significantly.

As far as acceleration and pick up are concerned, diesel-powered Civic accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.6 seconds. Integrated with new generation technologies, the automaker has done a remarkable job to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to minimum level.

Exterior, Interior & Safety Features of Honda Civic Diesel

Exteriors of the model remain the same, with slight revisions in height and width. Height of the new generation model has been lowered by 20 mm, while its width has been increased by 10 mm. It blended body design illustrates smarter and sportier image. New rear light cluster, rear wiper, daytime running lights and new aerodynamic spoiler are other notable exterior features.

Interiors of the car are decorated with high quality material and components. Honda's Intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), featuring 5-inch dashboard screen grabs attention within the car cabin notifies driving details like mpg, HDD satellite navigation, idle stop status, climate settings and audio playback. Leather steering wheel / gear knob, ambient interior lighting, auto-dimming rear view mirror and sunglasses holder are major interior highlights.

Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) provides active safety to the vehicle. On the other hand, seatbelts with pretensioners and safety airbags ensure passive safety of passengers.
