Fun Activities for Little People in Summerville!

Here are some of the top fun activities that are great for little people in and around Summerville… The younger years are full of wonder and excitement and so many fun times and activities! However, we all know that they can be very exhausting long days as well. Having fun activities for your little people helps everyone to thrive and survive these younger years with smiles on their faces and fun memories to look back on.

1. Rolly Pollies – What kid doesn’t love running/jumping and obstacle courses to test their limits? Rolly Pollies is a children’s gym that offers classes for 6 months to 10 year olds as well as open gym play time for reasonable prices.

2. Gahagan Park  & Laurel Street Park (Saul Alexander Park)- Community Parks are abundant in Summerville, but Gahagan and Laurel Street Park are two of my grandchildren’s favorites! Gahagan Park has a massive structure called Plantation Playground that is full of wooden walkways, overlooks and climbing structures. It is the perfect setting for imaginative play.  Laurel Street Park has plenty of room for kids to run, swing, try tennis ,and play as well as a picnic pavilion that is perfect for having a birthday party or playdate. We’ve celebrated many birthdays here with family and friends over the years.

3.Wannamaker Park Splash Pad (North Charleston) This isn’t techincally in Summerville, but you can get there in 15 mins and enjoy a fun splash pad for hours with your kids! It is reasonably priced ($2/person) and a blast for big and little kids! The Sprinkler is open daily, March 31 – September 30, from 10 a.m.– 6 p.m. Pack a lunch and snacks and towels and you are set for hours of fun. There are picnic tables/benches around the pad for parents and grandparents to rest and keep an eye on their children.

4. Dorchester County Library The Dorchester County library is a great resource for fun activities for preschool age children as well as older ones. They have circle time for ages 2 & 3 with stories and songs. Family story time for the whole family which is the best for children 5& under. Preschool Story-time is for 3-5 yr olds with stories, songs and crafts. Two other popular programs at the library are Music & Motion and Therapy Dog Time. It is  amazing how children who grow up in the library and going to the library as youngsters are more comfortable using it their whole life. Definitely take advantage of these free programs in our community.

5.Bee City Zoo We might not have a full zoo in Summerville, but this little zoo is perfect for a few hours of adventure with your children! They have all kinds of unique and rare animals like wallabies and coatimundis to farm animals like horses and donkeys and chickens. It is located in Cottageville and is a hands on zoo that is very interactive and educational.

If you own a home in Summerville you can enjoy these fun activities with their little people most of the year! If you want to buy a home for sale in Summerville so you can do these fun things and much more, let me know!
