Simi Valley Identity Theft Leads To Wild RV Chase

Simi Valley Identity Theft Leads To Wild RV Chase
Police arrested a Granada Hills woman after she led them on a wild chase while driving an RV. Later, they linked the spree to a Simi Valley identity theft. According to police, a Simi Valley resident informed them on April 30 that someone used her identity to buy a motorcycle. The person also bought an RV in Downey.

The victim also noted that an unknown person began making purchases on her credit on April 26. Additionally, she reported the Identity Theft to authorities in Los Angeles.

The stolen RV resurfaced last week as part of a wild chase in Los Angeles County. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office tried to pull the driver of the RV over. Instead, the driver fled and CHP officers joined in on the chase. The chase came to a halt following a crash in Tarzana, but the driver caused several other collisions.

During the chase, the RV driver hit several cars and a utility pole. She also collided with a palm tree in a shopping center parking lot. That crash tore off the RV’s passenger door, and dislodged the vehicle’s windshield. The woman had two dogs in the vehicle with her, and one escaped during a crash. She crashed into a car in Tarzana, which completely disabled the RV. The driver attempted to flee with the other dog, but authorities arrested her after a brief chase.

The driver of one of the vehicles struck during the chase suffered injuries and required hospitalization. Currently, the driver faces charges of possessing a stolen vehicle, felony hit-and-run, felony DUI and felony assault. She may face additional charges in other jurisdictions. The suspect remains jailed in Los Angeles County in lieu of a $705,000 bail. She will return to court on May 31, for matters related to her case.
