Embezzlement Charge for Newbury Park Man
A Newbury Park man turned himself in after an alleged embezzlement of funds from a local non-profit. The man is a member of the Rotary Club of Newbury Park and also served as the club’s treasurer for years. Members of the club reported the incident to Thousand Oaks police in November. Following an investigation, police say that the man stole club funds for about two-and-a-half years. In that time, the man allegedly made off with about $50,000.

According to investigators, the suspect works in Oxnard and is also active in the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Rotary Club is a charitable organization that organizes a number of fundraisers each year. In addition, they provide meals for the homeless, scholarships to students and also improve community resources for people with special needs.

According to the club, the alleged theft will not impact the club’s ability to provide charitable community services.
