Being a contractor exposes you to new industries and allows you to gain new skillsets. It also provides an opportunity to build upon your references and professional network. 

One of the benefits of technology contracting is higher compensation. Many people leave full-time jobs for contracting positions because you are paid hourly – so if you work more than 40 hours a week, you’re paid for all those hours.

When it comes to consulting, employers tend to relax in the requirements in order to find an ideal candidate. It also allows for a faster process which allows candidates to get back into the job force quickly. 

Another benefit of contracting is exposure to new environments and new technologies. As a full-time employee, you can get stuck working in the same environment for years and years, and as a contractor, you get exposed to different environments and different tools that make you more marketable to future employers.
