UPDATE: Western Australia is open for Business Innovation and Investment Visa 2021/2022

The Western Australia state government announced that the state nomination online application for Business Innovation and Investment Visa is opened from 4th August 2021.

The state nomination is opened for these three visa categories:

• 188A – Business Innovation
• 188B – Investor
• 188C – Significant Investor

To be eligible for State nomination for these visas, you must meet the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) criteria.

You must also meet the State nomination criteria as advised in the State nomination policy guidelines.

Business Innovation and Investment Program in Western Australia

If you wish to migrate to Western Australia on a Business Innovation and Investment Visa, you must obtain a nomination by the state government. In Australia, the Business Migration Centre (BMC) will act on behalf of the Western Australian government in approving the nomination.

The state nomination is required for the following Business Innovation and Investment Visa:

• Business Innovation and Investment (subclass 188) – Business Innovation Stream
• Business Innovation and Investment (subclass 188) – Business Innovation Stream – Extension
• Business Innovation and Investment (subclass 188) – Investor Stream
• Business Innovation and Investment (subclass 188) – Significant Investor Stream
• Business Innovation and Investment (subclass 188) – Significant Investor Stream – Extension

Western Australia State Nomination Policies for Visa 188

Generally, the state nomination requirements in Western Australia are the same as the requirements given by the Department of Home Affairs. Below are the complete requirements for Western Australia state nomination for Visa 188.

a. State Nomination Visa 188 – Business Innovation Stream

The applicants must meet the Department of Home Affairs requirement. Applicants and any family members (dependents) are also required to live and study in Australia.

b. State Nomination Visa 188 – Investor Stream

The applicants must meet the Department of Home Affairs requirement. The applicants must also:

• Propose net assets of at least $2.5 million invested in complying investment as specified by the Department of Home Affairs;
• Agree to re-invest $2.5 million complying investment into any Western Australia assets upon maturity of the complying investment;
• Applicants and any family members (dependents) residing in Australia are required to live and study in Australia.

c. State Nomination Visa 188 – Significant Investor Stream

The applicants must meet the Department of Home Affairs requirement. The applicants must also:

• Propose net assets of at least $5 million invested in complying investments as specified by the DHA;
• Agree to re-invest the $5 million complying investment into any Western Australian assets upon maturity of the complying investment;
• Applicants and any family members (dependents) residing in Australia are required to live and study in Western Australia.

Steps to Apply for Western Australia State Nomination

Here are the three steps in applying for Western Australia State Nomination:

Step 1: Lodge an online application for the state nomination with the Business Migration Centre (BMC). There will be a fee applied of $750 to all visa nomination applications and extensions.

Step 2: If the BMC selects you for the state nomination, you can continue the process by lodging an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect, if you have not already done so.

Step 3: Once the BMC has nominated you through the SkillSelect, you will receive an invitation to lodge your visa application. You must complete the visa application within 60 days.
