Transfer Outlook Express Email to Windows Live Mail in Windows 7

You can’t find Outlook Express in Windows 7 or later version. It is replaced with Windows Live Mail. Now this is the question how to open outlook in Windows 7 or later? Here is the solution you can transfer your Outlook Express emails to Windows Live Mail like this.

First Show hidden files/folders in Windows XP.

Open “My Computer”.

Click “Tools” menu and select “Folder Options”.

Click the View tab and find “Show hidden files and folders” option under “Hidden files and folders”. Click “OK” .

Now open Outlook Express folder through the following path:

C:\Documents and Settings\?????\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{??????}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Note: ????? is different for different computer.

Copy Outlook express folder and paste it in any drive on that computer where the “Windows Live Mail” is installed.

Now Open “Windows Live Mail”.

Setup the same email account in “Windows Live Mail” that you have in “Outlook Express”.

Click on “File” menu > Import > Messages.

Select “Microsoft Outlook Express 6” format and click “Next” button.

Click the “Browse” button.

Choose and find “Outlook Express” folder. Click OK.

Click “Next” button.

Select “All folders” and click “Next”.

Click “Finish” button when you see “Import Complete” message.

All email messages are now in “Windows Live Mail” under Storage folders > Imported Folders > Local Folder. You can see all import folders after Expand.

That’s it. Outlook Express Message transferred into Windows Live Mail successfully.
