Boat traffic on the Bosphorus has been suspended temporarily after a vessel loaded with grains reportedly ran aground owing to an unexpected breakdown off Türkeli, the Directorate General of Turkey’s Coastal Safety reported.

The 190-meter bulk carrier named ‘Annitta’ has been successfully towed under the prompt coordination of the Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services Center, per a statement by the Anatolia news agency.

After towing, the vessel was anchored in the Sariyer district, Istanbul.

Subsequently, the Turkish authorities have informed us that the suspended traffic is expected to be restarted at 1.30 am (local time).

The Istanbul coordination centre reportedly conducts joint inspections of vessels loaded with grains from Ukraine that cross the Black Sea to Bosphorus Strait in Turkey. It ensures that ships aren’t carrying any weapons or combat equipment after leaving or entering the ports.
