The Best Valentine’s Gifts for Freelancers

In one of our previous posts, we did what we Love to do around the holidays and we went around the office and asked everyone about their plans. This got us to thinking.

What are the best Valentine’s Day gifts for freelancers? Does this holiday require a different type of gift?

The best way to find out is to go straight to the source.

We decided to go back around the office, much to the dismay of Bob, to ask about the best gifts to give a freelancer. It’s Valentine’s week, people! Love is in the air. And apparently, so is the booze! Keep reading for everything the wfh office staff has to say about the topic.

Matt – The Editor

The best gift is the gift that keeps on giving. And that’s booze. Scotch, a nice bottle of wine, a six-pack of some awesome craft beer.

Well, that’s the best pick if you’re buying for me. I’m currently single and ready to mingle. And by mingle, I mean that I like free stuff. I like booze. I like chocolate. And I enjoy being spoiled.

Hah!

Seriously, if there is a freelancer in your life and you want to show them how much you care, go with consumables. I’ve yet to find another freelancer that didn’t love snacks, booze, smokes, vape juice, or some other consumable.

If I were dating a freelancer, I would definitely to the snacks/chocolate/candy route. My favorite ex-girlfriend was a tiny woman but she could slam some food. It was so impressive. I got her a ton of candy and junk food for Valentine’s Day one year and she was in heaven. It’s like it’s a day where women feel it’s ok to indulge and just go HAM on the junk.

That’s exactly what I would do, although now I’d probably throw in a bottle of wine and a single rose to help bring sexy back.

Nancy

It really doesn’t matter what you get me for Valentine’s Day. It’s all about the thought. If my boyfriend was a freelancer, my gift would be forcing him away from his work. That’s what he does for me.

It takes something like Valentine’s Day to pull me away from my laptop.

We always make a big deal out of holidays. It’s fun. It’s not about the gifts at all, though.

Honestly, it’s about the love. He loves me. I love him. And the time we spend together is precious.

I think that is probably the best gift you can give a freelancer. Attention and love. Pull them away from their screens. Shower them with love and remind them there is a world outside of work.

Bob

I hate Matt. I seriously hate him. If he wants to get back into my good graces, it’s going to cost him all of the scotch in his liquor cabinet.

Personally, if someone wants to be my Valentine, they should just show up to my home, knock on the door, leave the gifts, and go away. I’ll take your stuff. But I like being alone.

Like my favorite editor, I love all things candy and junk food and booze.

Chocolate, as much as I hate to admit it, is my favorite. I love the little Lindor chocolates. I’m obsessed with pretty much all forms of chocolate ice cream. To me, ice cream is the epitome of what dessert is supposed to be. Think about it.

Dinner is hot. Therefore dessert should be cold. Dinner is savory. Ice cream is sweet.

It’s a metaphor for everything I’ve done in my life. Hell, it’s a metaphor for freelancers everywhere. We’re doing the opposite of what everyone else is doing. We go against the grain.

Nice vanilla life, losers. I’m getting my chocolate on!

In the unlikely event I ever find someone I want to be in a relationship with, I would put a lot of thought into their gifts. If I were dating a freelancer, I would probably shower her with ridiculous gag gifts to make her laugh. Then we would Netflix all night and eat chocolate. If that doesn’t sound perfect, I don’t know what does.

Benny

I detailed my plans in our last episode. My wife is not a freelancer. If she was, we wouldn’t do anything differently.

We love our lives and everything in it.

Now, we aren’t perfect. We have issues just like every married couple. And that’s ok. But we’re in love and we’re both ready and willing to work through every challenge that comes our way.

My wife loves candy and junk food. So I surprise her with these items on a regular basis. I don’t need to bring home candy and flowers on Valentine’s Day.

I’m more of a health nut. I like power bars, bottled water, and raw vegetables. Heh.

She will come home on occasion with power bars for me and dog treats for our pups. That’s all it takes to make the whole household happy! If I were dating a freelancer and it was a new relationship, I would try to do something different. Like, maybe a hike? Something fun and really personal. Throw in a little romance and it’s the perfect date! Check out this site for some tips.

Conclusion

These are some great gift ideas for freelancers!

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Are you going to do something nice for your partner or are you going to bo the route of Bob and Matt? Do you have any great gift ideas for the freelancer in your life?
