Top Quizzes to Determine Your Dream Job

I think we’d all be lying if we said we’ve never had doubts about our Career path or the company we work for; it’s human nature to be curious and venture into foreign areas. It doesn’t matter if you’re in high school and applying for college, a college student figuring out your major, or a veteran professional who’s been in the same industry for a decade, because we have the same questions: what do I want? Am I happy? This may not be a mid-life crisis per say, but perhaps a career-crisis. For those of you wondering where you went wrong, I suggest taking some assessments to delve into your real interests and talents.

1. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

This is one of the most-used assessments by career centers and managers. It asks questions about your personality, your thought process, and the type of work structure you prefer. This assessment feels personal and gives you information about the way you work and the type of environment that best fits you.

Cost: $49.95

2. Self-Directed Search (SDS)

This assessment categorizes people into six groups: realistic, artistic, social, enterprising, or conventional. The SDS assessment asks questions about your aspirations, interests, etc. to determine three categories that fit you and related careers that fit people who are a mixture of many types.

Cost: $9.95

3. Keirsey Temperament Sorter

We’ll call this assessment the KTS, which divides people into four temperaments: guardian, idealist, rational, and artisan. It’s a test that consists of 71 questions to measure how you communicate and your typical responses to situations.

4. MyPlan.com

This service offers four different tests to find your perfect career and measure your career personality. It’s similar to MBTI in that it measures your interests, skills, and values. MyPlan.com helps you understand what you should look for in a new position and they can match your profile with a job.

Cost: Free – $19.95

5. Pymetrics

While the other assessments are straight-forward enough, Pymetrics actually uses challenging mind games to measure your cognitive and social traits. The results review your strengths and weaknesses that give you an idea of professions you would excel in.
