Etihad Airways has launched a flash Business Class sale from several markets, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, and Italy, as well as Australia. There are some great deals to be had, but you’ll need to be quick as the sale will expire on Sunday, 12th August.

After a period of cost-cutting and network shrinkage, Etihad Airways is once again on the offensive, with an impressive new Business Class suite on its Airbus A350 fleet and brand new Armani Casa tableware. Its Business Studio product also remains competitive, and Etihad is once again proving itself to be a good choice for long-haul travel.

Etihad Airways – Boeing 787 Dreamliner Business Class

What aircraft does Etihad Airways fly?

Etihad Airways now operates four types of aircraft on its long-haul routes. The Abu Dhabi-based carrier recently returned its iconic Airbus A380 superjumbo to service, but the majority of its long-haul route network is served by its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, along with a small number of Airbus A350s.

There are also around ten Boeing 777s that remain in service in the Etihad Airways fleet, although these should be eventually replaced as more A350 and 787 aircraft are delivered.

Airbus A380

After grounding its entire fleet of ten Airbus A380s at the start of the pandemic, Etihad has now returned the iconic double-deck aircraft to the skies. For the time being, at least, the A380 is only serving Etihad’s flagship route between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow.

Four A380s have so far returned from the desert to meet demand. The aircraft features the famous three-room Residence apartment, along with 10 First Class suites and 70 Business Studio seats on the upper deck and 417 Economy Class seats on the main deck.

First and Business Class passengers also have access to ‘The Lobby’, which sits between the two cabins on the upper deck.

Airbus A350

Etihad Airways has a total of 20 Airbus A350 aircraft on order, and the plane features the airline’s latest Business Class seat, which is a modified version of the popular reverse herringbone Collins Super Diamond seat with privacy door.

The Etihad Airways version of the seat features wireless charging, an 18.5″ screen and thoughtful touches like a bespoke reading lamp that evokes the ‘facets of Abu Dhabi’ design theme that has become synonymous with Etihad.

The A350 features 44 Business suites between doors one and two and 327 Economy Class seats across the rest of the aircraft.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner

Etihad Airways operates the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and the 787-10, which is longer than the -9 and sacrifices range for a higher passenger capacity.

The 787-9 has two configurations:

  • Config One offers 8 First Class suites, 28 Business Studio seats and 199 Economy Class seats.
  • Config Two doesn’t have a First Class cabin and still only has 28 Business Studio seats, along with 304 Economy Class seats.

There is just one configuration of the 787-10 with 32 Business Studio seats and 304 Economy Class seats.

Later this year, Etihad Airways will introduce new cabins onboard newly delivered Dreamliners. The airline has opted for the Collins Aerospace Elements reverse herringbone seat in Business Class, which will come in a 1-2-1 configuration, all with direct aisle access and privacy doors.

The seat will feature wireless device charging, Bluetooth headphone pairing and a 4K entertainment screen. The height of the suite has been increased compared to the A350 suite for greater privacy.

What is Etihad Airways Business Class like?

Late last year, Etihad Airways introduced new tableware and bedding in Business Class in a collaboration with luxury design house Armani/Casa.

Nicknamed ‘The Constellation Collection’, the new range of tableware, glassware, and cutlery has been a big hit with passengers. The range also includes a new pillow and duvet, as well as a memory foam mattress on longer flights.

Unlike many airlines in Business Class, Etihad offers a full dine-on-demand concept.

Where can you fly with Etihad Airways?

Etihad Airways now serves 60 destinations from its Abu Dhabi hub. This year alone, the airline has already announced nine new destinations, which include Malaga, Mykonos, Lisbon, Kolkata, St Petersburg, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, and Osaka.

Etihad will also be launching direct flights to Boston from early next year in an expansion of its North American network.

In August, Etihad said it intended to increase capacity and frequencies to a number of popular destinations such as Madrid, Milan and Phuket.
