Qatar Airways Privilege Club Members can now link their Visa and Mastercard credit cards to their account in order to earn Avios while shopping at any of 300 locations across Qatar.

The admittedly niche offer is open to holders of Visa credit cards issued in over 70 countries, while Mastercard credit cards issued in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Qatar, UAE, UK, Uruguay and the USA can also be linked to earn Avios from everyday shopping in Qatar.

Some of the initial retail partners include Kulud Pharmacy, F45, and Evergreen Organics, although the full list wasn’t immediately available shortly after the ‘Card Linked Offers’ promotion was announced on Sunday.

The promotion comes just a few months after Qatar Airways enabled Privilege Club members to both earn and spend Avios at any of 200 retail outlets at Doha Hamad International Airport.

Qatar Airways adopted the Avios rewards currency in March 2022, which is owned and managed by the European airline group IAG and used by British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia and Vueling.

To link purchases to the loyalty programme, Privilege Club members just need to sign into their account and add their credit card details. Members can then choose to earn or spend Avios via their account. If you choose the spend option, the equivalent cashback will be credited to your linked card.

This is the closest that Qatar Airways has got to the kind of massive retail partnerships to collect points that are offered by the likes of the British Airways Executive Club and American Airlines AAdvantage program through their respective eShopping portals.

While it’s on a much smaller scale, the Qatar Airways ‘Card Linked Offers’ still provides another opportunity to collect Avios on purchases you’d make anyway… so long as you planned to make the purchase on a Visa or Mastercard credit card.
