Celebrating Success -10 minutes with Eljay

After winning February’s employee of the month award, we sat down with Eljay to talk about his time at ISL so far. Scroll down to read his story…

Tell us about your time at ISL so far…

It’s been really good. I started at ISL in July 2017 as part of the training academy where I completed an 8 week intensive training programme which covered all aspects of Recruitment. I was promoted to consultant in April 2018 and I’ve been part of the UK IT team ever since. ISL is a great place to kick start your career and learn all about recruitment; I’ve learnt so much in my time here so far.

How does it feel to win employee of the month?

It feels really good. It just goes to show that if you work hard, it will pay off and you’ll be recognised for your efforts.

If you could be someone famous for the day, who would you be and why?

Idris Elba, 100%. He’s got a certain swagger about him, he’s a cool guy who can do just about anything and everything.

What keeps you motivated at work?

I write down all of my goals. Whether it’s short term, long term or somewhere in between, I always have my goals in front of me to keep me Motivated. I think it’s important to always have something to work towards.

What’s your next big purchase going to be?

*Mysterious voice* you’ll have to wait and see.

What advice would you give to someone new starting at ISL?

You need to find your own way of doing things and figure out what works best for you. Everyone will give you different tips and tricks for doing certain things, so be open to learning and try every method until you find what works best for you.

How do you define success?

There’s long term success which is your main goal at the end of the tunnel, but before you reach that, you have to achieve all of your smaller goals in between. If you hit all of your targets, you’ve been successful.

If you were in charge of the office for the day, what would you do?

To be honest, there’s nothing I’d change. Although, I love boxing so maybe putting a punch bag in the office would be a good idea for people to keep fit and let off some steam?!

What’s been your biggest highlight at ISL so far?

I don’t think I’d be able to choose just one highlight. I’d say working alongside a solid team with great people where we keep each other motivated definitely stands out as one of the best parts of working at ISL.
