5 In Demand Careers That Need You!

Finding a job can be difficult. But every so often there comes a time when a particular Market starts losing its working professionals, for whatever reason. When these times come along it can be good for those of us who are still unemployed to pick up the slack. It means more work for us, which inevitably leads to more money. The professions listed below are a select few where this is the case in Nigeria.

Software Programmers
Because of the increasing number of businesses that are moving into the online sector, there is a need for people who can improve online business activity and security. Businesses need websites to be coded and designed as well as programmes to be developed so that they can create and simple and more enjoyable online experience for their consumers. They are catering to the online market and they can’t do it by themselves. They need educated professionals to lend a hand.

IT/Telecom Engineers
The IT market is rapidly growing, as it has been for the last few years, and especially on the African continent. The boom of the Nigerian telecommunication Industry has only added to this and has resulted in the demand for IT and Telecom Engineers.

Pilots
Aviation in Nigeria is a growing industry, with more and more planes showing up in Nigerian airspace every day. And where there’s aircrafts, there’s airliners. So it isn’t only pilots that are finding it easier to get jobs, it’s all personnel involved in the airline industry.

Dentists
There are less than 20 thousand dentists in Nigeria, and compared to a population of 173 million, that isn’t very many. That’s more than 8 thousand people, with over 250 thousand teeth, to every dentist. That’s a seriously understaffed industry in need of qualified individuals.

Doctors
The kind of profession that never goes out of date. People will always be getting sick, and they’ll always be in need of doctors to diagnose and treat them. You need to be well studied, and able to put in the work when need be, but once you’ve got your PhD, it’s entirely worth it. The pay is good and the stress can be a bit much for some, but if you enjoy helping people then it could be the career for you.
