According to a survey from flexible workspace operator IWG, 83% of UK HR professionals believe that Hybrid working is essential for attracting top talent. The survey of 500 UK HR professionals suggests that benefits such as hybrid working, which provide employees with a better work-life balance, are crucial for attracting talent. Nearly half (49%) of HR professionals surveyed said that hybrid working is an effective tool to not only recruit, but retain workers.

Around two-thirds (62%) of HR professionals said they have introduced a hybrid working policy post-2020 and are seeing positive results, with nearly 60% reporting they have seen improvements in employee retention, employee satisfaction (63%), and work-life balance (57%). Similar results have been found in the U.S., where 94% of HR professionals use hybrid working to recruit new talent, and 93% say it is a key tool for them.

IWG’s report suggests that the well-being of employees is becoming a priority for companies, with 92% of HR professionals believing that hybrid working leads to happier and more loyal employees. The shift to hybrid working has also had a positive impact on employee health and well-being, with 96% of HR professionals saying that it supports employee mental health and 83% agreeing that it leads to a healthier workforce.

The top benefits that have a positive impact on employee retention include fitness amenities (55%), access to green space (48%), healthy snacks (47%), and meditation rooms (41%). The majority of HR professionals (95%) report a correlation between employee productivity, well-being, and the number of days spent in a physical office, with 25% saying that three days in the office is the ideal number to maximise these benefits. These results are consistent in the U.S. as well, with 97% of U.S. HR professionals agreeing that there is a correlation between the three-day office rule.
