Friday Flashback: Give Your New Age Hiring A Traditional Touch! Blog

eazyhire.in/blog
This age old saying goes, “Old is gold!” And that is still relevant, at least sometimes. A handwritten mail to someone you love will always be more effective than an electronic one. A home-baked, uneven pie will melt more hearts than a bakery-bought muffin. And the same rule applies to hiring very often, especially if you are a start-up. So, if you have completely let go off traditional hiring methods, to go absolutely social & digital, it’s probably time to look back at the older methods, and look for some relevance in them. This may be the jackpot you’ll hit, to scale your company to unimaginable heights. Here’s a reality check for you. When was the last time you scanned through the classifieds section in your favourite daily, one that you actually take the effort to read every single day? Or looked up a job board outside a community centre or local hall? Or maybe walked past a nearby, local shop that has lots of sticky notes pasted all over the glass window with advertisement of every sort? If you haven’t witnessed any of these recently, it is not because they don’t exist anymore. It simply means that you, consciously or unconsciously, have turned a blind eye on them. You might think these methods are too outdated to be used for your current hiring needs. But, I beg to differ. If you are a start-up, what you most need right now is that strong set of first few employees, who’ll be the backbone of your growth. So advertise locally and build your team locally. Advertise for this initial team in every possible, traditional way. Post ads in the city and area classifieds, put up handwritten or typed out, detailed ads on job boards, and even put up a sticky at a local shop. As much as they sound ancient, they haven’t become completely irrelevant to our times yet. And it never will. It is like saying a messy letter and a shapeless pie has no value anymore. Go back to the basics, and experience traditional nuances breathing life into your post-modern expectations. While you introspect about the things I have mentioned, I’ll go back to writing up my to-do list. The weekend’s here already and I’ve got so much to do… Buy coffee Make coffee Drink coffee Woah!! That’s quite a checklist. Taking your leave now. See you around when the new week beings. Until then. Goodbye! Eazyhire Team
