Purchasing Specialist

Storee Construction Co. is recruiting for a full-time Purchasing Specialist to assist field personnel with prompt and accurate job cost purchase orders. This position negotiates vendor terms, prices and schedules delivery using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
  • Carries out warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures.
  • Manages equipment rental process.
  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
  • Forwards available inventory items by verifying stock and scheduling delivery.
  • Promptly processes approved purchase order requests by verifying specifications and price and obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items.
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Maintains accurate job cost related information posted to accounting and project management systems.
  • Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents within SharePoint or other file locations.
  • Performs cross training in other job cost or administrative positions within the company.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of general office or purchasing experience.
  • Competence with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook computer applications is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and SharePoint is preferred.
  • Technical capacity.
  • Proven financial management skills.
  • Decision making ability.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Vendor relationship management.
  • Follows directions from a supervisor.
  • Interacts effectively with co-workers.
  • Comprehends and complies with posted rules and procedures.
